Agra Tourism

Agra has had a rich history ever since it was founded in 1506 by Sultan Sikandar Lodhi. Nestled in the banks of the Yamuna, the city of Agra is one of the most sought after spots of tourists' attractions in India, chiefly because it houses one of the wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal.
Here is Allwondersoftheworld providing you information on Agra Tourism. Agra was the capital of the Mughal dynasty for long time until it was shifted to Shahjahanabad by Shah Jahan. It is therefore natural that Agra will have the most prominent remnants of the Mughal heritage, which is manifested in the architecture of the monuments and tombs we find there. Taj Mahal is the most important spot for the tourists visiting Agra. Shah Jahan built this extremely beautiful alabaster mausoleum in the memory of his loving wife Mumtaj Mahal.
More on facts about New York.

Taj Mahal has been described by ports and writes in the most celebrated terms. Rabindranath Tagore had described it is as " a teardrop on the face of eternity". Taj Mahal is the ultimate embodiment of the unique blend of Persian, Ottoman Hindu, and early Mughal architecture. Besides the Taj Mahal, Agra also has a great many other very attractive monuments and forts dating sincethe Mughal times.
The Agra Fort, which is also situated right at the banks of Yamuna is also quite a popular spot of tourists' attraction. Although the fort was chiefly built for military purposes during the reign of Akbar, Shah Jahan later converted into a palace. In the outskirts of the city we have the Fathepur Sikri, which was again built by Akbar and is a truly splendid manifestation of the richness of the Mughal architecture. The other major places to visit in Agra are the Itmad-Ud-Daulah's Tomb, which was built by Empress Nur Jehan in the memory of her father Ghias-ud-Din Beg.
The Jama Masjid and the Chini Ka Rauza and Sikander are the three special architectural splendors of Agra and are important places to visit because Sikander is Akbar's tomb, which truly reflects the multi faceted personality of the great Emperor. The Aaram Bagh or the Garden of Relaxation is also a sight to behold and is also a significant place of visit because it is where Babur was buried.
