CN Tower of Canada

Standing at a height of a little more than 1,815 ft, the CN Tower is the most iconic architecture of Canada's skyline. Not only that, it is also Canada's National Tower, the world's tallest building, a telecommunication hub and the tourism centre in Toronto. So apart from being a national pride of distinguished design, it also is rooted in practicality. Built with the premeditated idea of displaying the prowess of the Canadian industry, it has lived up to its intentions by attracting approximately 2 million people each year.

Due to the construction boom in the 1960's, Toronto's skyline was dotted with skyscrapers, causing serious communication problems. The CN Tower, built in 1976, with its microwave receptors at an altitude of 1,109 ft. and an antenna at 1,815 ft., 5, the CN Tower immediately dispelled these problems. Presently, 16 of Toronto's media signals are transmitted from the tower. Built by Canadian National (CN), the ownership of the CN Tower was later transferred to Canada Lands Company (CLC).
The CN Tower is the world's tallest free-standing structure. It is as heavy as 23,214 large elephants and was erected at an amazing rate of 18 ft per day. The CN Tower is built with the ability to withstand gusts of 260-mph and a pair of 10-ton counterweights are attached to the mast to keep the tower from swaying.

The CN Tower is situated on Front Street, in the heart of the Entertainment District - on the north shore of Lake Ontario. The CN Tower is easily accessible from Union Station as well as many major streets and highways. The Glass Floor and Outdoor Observation Deck is Located at a height of 1,122 ft. At 1,136 ft. is the Horizons Cafe and the Indoor Observation Deck. 360, another restaurant, is located at 1,150 ft. and offers guests a complete 360 degree view of the city.
The floor in the 360 Restaurant rotates once every 72 minutes allowing a complete and unobstructed view of the city below. The restaurant also houses artwork which is provided by the Art Gallery of Ontario and is available for purchase at the gallery. The Sky Pod is next. It is the World's Highest Public Observation Deck at 1,465 ft.
