Interesting places Nanjing

There are quite a number of interesting places that are worth visiting by every tourist on a planned visit to Nanjing in China. Some of the places that are interesting and worth paying a visit to are listed below:

Nanjing Lu: Nanjing Donglu (Nanjing Road East) has been China's golden mile for quite a considerable amount of time now. Regarded as supreme at one point of time, this place is now fading out on its glory and rich cultural background to the emerging luxury option such as Huaihai Lu. Such was the charming appeal of this place that even during the dull and drab Communist era in China, this place had a typical and distinct 'shop ill you drop' feel about it. However, thanks to McDonald's, Esprit, and Benetton, Marx and Mao have been shoved into the dry and draughty halls of the little visited museums, wherein, apparently, the capitalist state was supposed to meet its end.

Mandarin Garden (Yuyuan Bazar): This place encompasses the temples of the Town Gods and is surrounded by the bazaar area, at the north-eastern end of the old Chinese city. Quite a number of foreigners to this place consider this place to be the most interesting places in the whole of China. Around 200,000 visitors visit this place roughly on an average everyday. This entire place is quite lively and attracts a huge number of tourists from all over the world all the year around without holding much of an importance historically.

Jade Buddha Temple: This temple is an active temple with around 70 Buddhist monks who reside at this place as found out from the last count. This temple was built between the years 1911 and 1918. Due to the bright saffron walls of the temple, it is readily identifiable from the outside of the temple. Inside the temple the centerpiece is a two meter high white jade Buddha image (some also say that this image is actually of an alabaster). This jaded Buddha imagery was installed here after it had been brought by a monk from Burma to the Zhejiang Province in 1882. This seated Buddha, which is encrusted with jewels of different kinds, is said to weigh 1000 kg. On a redwood bed lays a smaller, reclining Buddha from the same shipment.
