Taj Mahal has the distinction of being one of the most unblemished architectural constructions in the entire world. It is positioned in the city of Agra based in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, on the riverbanks of Yamuna. The intricate architecture of the Taj Mahal of Agra encompasses of five key factors such as the Darwaza or main entrance, the Bageecha or garden, the Masjid or mosque, the Naqqar Khana or rest house, and the Rauza or the Taj Mahal mausoleum.  The unique architectural style of Taj mahal is a blend of Persian, Central Asian, and Islamic architecture. The black and white marble floor, the four tall minarets at the corners of the structure, and the grandiose striking dome in the middle are all the inimitable features that combine to create the wonder that is Taj Mahal.

The artwork is very complex and intricately handled. It is such an elaborate and detailed that there is a 3 cm ornamental part consisting of more than 50 inlaid precious and semi-precious gemstones. Thus the Taj Mahal of Agra is not only a monument of love but also the best example of Mughal art and architecture.
28 varieties of exceptional, semi precious and precious stones were utilized for inlay work in the Taj Mahal. Some of these stones include jasper from Punjab, jade and crystal from China, turquoise from Tibet, lapis lazuli and sapphire from Sri Lanka and diamonds from Panna. Thus it would not be a hyperbole to state that the Taj Mahal of Agra is not just an architectural construction but an equivalent to an artistic masterpiece or an exquisite work of jewellery.
