One of the most popular and interesting places in Myanmar is the Shwegadon Pagoda in Yangon. It is one of the major tourist spots in Myanmar. This conical Buddhist shrine is placed on a hill top. This solid stupa is made of brick which is entirely surfaced with gold. This golden pagoda is about 99 m high. The base of the pagoda is encircled by 64 tiny pagodas along with four bigger pagodas on the four corners as revealed by the images of Shwedagon Pagoda. Four sphinxes on each side and six leogryphs, three on every corner of the pagoda are also present, as seen in the images of Shwedagon Pagoda.

At the center of each corner Tazaungs are present where offerings are made to the images of Buddha. Four sculptures of bending elephants are also seen in some of the images of Shwedagon Pagoda, where people kneel. Pedestals for making offerings also are present here.An image of S shows the pagoda and a monk in the evening light.
