Climatic Condition in Myanmar



Due to the Myanmar's geographical position and shape, a variety in the climatic conditions in Myanmar is brought forth. The alterations in the directions of the monsoon winds along with the change of time throughout the year result in occurrences of the seasons in Myanmar. The prevailing climatic conditions in Myanmar are tropical, the seasons being divided into three, summer, rainy and winter.
Summer: The summer season in Myanmar continues from March to April. During summer the highest temperature experienced by Central Myanmar is above 110C. But the northern regions in Myanmar experience a maximum temperature of about 36.1C in summer along with the Shan Plateau experiencing the optimum temperature of about 35C.
Rainy: Rainy season in Myanmar lasts from mid-May till the end of October, the annual average rainfall being not more than 10 inches in the central regions of Myanmar. The coastal regions in Myanmar like Rakhine and Tanintharyi receive about 200 inches of annual average rainfall.
Winter: Winter in Myanmar begins at November, continuing till February. Temperature in Myanmar during winter falls to a maximum of 0C in the mountainous areas with a height of more than 3000 feet. During the winter or northeast monsoon season temperatures are much lower in the inland areas.

The climatic conditions in Myanmar generally do not reach the extremities. The various regions in Myanmar do not experience too much hot or too much cold weather conditions.
The coastal regions in Myanmar experience the highest amount of humidity during summer. All the inland areas in Myanmar experience maximum amount of humidity in the rainy season.
The rains also, along with the seasons are brought due to the change in the wind directions and low pressure in Myanmar. The average amount of annual rainfall is inconstant in the regions of Rakhine and Tarintharyi, though these downpours usually do not create any challenging situation.
