Transport Facilities in Rhodes

Transport is an important source of communication in any major country which is well connected through well developed roads. Olympic Airlines (OA) is the national airline for the entire of Greece. It takes 3 hours 55 minutes to reach Athens from London. It takes 13 hours to reach Athens from New York. The Rhodes Airport is 16 kilometers from the city. Taxi, local buses and coach are available. Car hire, bank, café, bar, bureau de change, and duty free shop are some of the facilities that are offered to the tourists.


The main water ports of the country would include Corfu, Heraklion, Igoumenitsa, Patras, Piraeus, Rafina, Rhodes, Thessaloniki, and Volos. There is also a ferry service from Rhodes to Marmaris in Turkey. The major ferry operators who cover the international routes would include Superfast, Minoan ,and Anek. Hellenic Railways Organization LTD is the national railway company. Unlimited second class train travel in up to 29 countries is on offer by the Inter-Rail pass.
Ferry services between Greece and Italy is also included. However, in order to use the pass and avail of its accompanying facilities, passengers must be residing in Europe for at least six months. Unlimited first class train travel in 18 European countries is offered by Eurailpass. It is possible to enter the mainland through ferry cars and caravans. The points of overland entry are from The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia via Evzoni and Niki.

The wonderful and historic city of Rhodes Island is also well connected to the rest of Europe because a number of flights operate throughout the week at different points of time on different air ticket charge.
