Interesting Places Around Rhodes Island

There are a number of places which are worth visiting by the tourists in and around Rhodes Island. The primary place of interest for the tourists in Rhodes Island would be the Block Island which is an 11 square mile seaside resort located around 12 miles off the Coast of Rhodes Island. This place has been heralded as "One of the Last Twelve Great Places in the Western hemisphere". The elegance of the bygone era is preserved by the beautifully restored Victorian hotels and inns that are situated in this Island.


The main attraction of this Island would be the long public beaches and the 365 fresh water ponds. The people of this Island sincerely work towards preserving the ecology of this place. The Black Island nature Conservancy works effectively towards the maintenance of this Island and also toward providing different sources of entertainment to the tourists like walking and hiking paths through the grassy meadows.One can reach this Island by two ways.The first would be the 20 minutes flight from the state airport of Westerly,
Rhode Island and this is preferred as compared to the second method which is the hour long ferry ride from Point Judith, Rhode Island. The Old Harbor is a place which is always bustling with life and there exists an abundance of shops and restaurants in this Island. Many a times, this Island is reminiscent of Ireland with its teardrop shaped Island.

The hiking trails, the ocean beaches, and the dramatic bluffs of this Island beckon tourists far and wide to this mesmerizing Island. Other interesting places to visit in and around Rhodes Island would include the galleries, theaters and museums lined along the streets of Providence which is the city's artistic hub for quite a number of reasons with the Providence Arts & Theatre growing in increasing popularity.

The Chepachet Farm and the Hill Herb Farm in the Blackstone Valley are the two major tourist attractions of Rhodes Island. The Slater Mill Living History Museum is another tourist attraction in Rhodes Island.
