Transport facilities in Olympia

Transport is an important source of communication in any major country which is well connected through well developed roads. The bus service is the main form of transport in the whole of Greece. The buses are mainly of two kinds: The Blue city buses and the long distance, 'Greyhound' equivalent light green buses. The blue city buses travel throughout Greece. For DRA 100, in Attiki one can take the bus all the way to Varkiza. Seaside Attiki buses go from the Zapeion and Kifisia and north suburban buses go from Square Kaningos. Tickets are to be bought before boarding the bus at machines which are available at some of the bus stops.

Another common form of transport is the green long distance buses. As it is a mountainous country, so Greek relies a great deal on buses as its major source of transportation. Even on long runs, most cities have more than 1 bus per day plying on the city road. To go from Athens to Thessaloniki it costs DRA 6000, which proves that bus services are quite inexpensive throughout Greece.
Train is another common form of travel in Olympia and also in and around the major part of Greece. Most of the limited electrified network that Greece has uses Diesel locomotives. The train network is mostly single track. A second class ticket from Athens to Thessaloniki costs DRA 5500 which proves that traveling by train is quite inexpensive in Olympia as well as the greater part of Greece. In the following sectors train is a great way to travel:
Larisa to Katerini
Trikala to Kalambaka via Karditsa
Diakofto to Kalavryta
Tripolis to Kalamata
Luxury taxis also operate throughout the city of Olympia and also in and around the greater parts of Greece in order to facilitate transportation. There also exists cruise and ferry service in and around Olympia and also the larger parts of Greece in order to make the transport system across the country better.
