About Bodrum, Homer had once said "The land of eternal blue". In the words of a native of Bodrum, "The heavenly bliss of life in Bodrum is better than any eternal bliss that may await us". Throughout the pages of history, Bodrum (formerly known as Hallicarnasos) has been known for its enviable beauty. Built on a peninsula, Bodrum is famous for a number of reasons such as its castle, yachts, and shipyards. This historically significant place, which has been the cradle of several significant civilizations down the years, has all the facilities in order to meet the diverse range of tourists starting from the extreme rich to the moderately placed.


The historian Heredotus, history's first woman admiral Artemisia I both came from this place. Throughout history, this place experienced the dominance of several civilizations like Persians, Mecedonians, Roman Empire and Byzantines. There exists diverse source of entertainment in Bodrum. Located in the Bodrum Castle, the Underwater Archeological Museum of Bodrum should not be missed out. The traditional architecture of Bodrum has a typical structure windowless first floor and doors on the second floor. These houses are now taken care of by the government and are located in major part of the villages of Ortakent and Kocakaya. Bodrum is the yachting centre of Turkey. The marina holds a capacity of 275 yachts. This place is famous for its colorful life on the Aegean coast. This place is also well known for its night life.
