Egypt has great significance in the world map as a historical site worth visiting. Cairo: Situated right in the heart of Egypt, this place, founded on the site of Babylon near the ruins of ancient Memphis, is rich with a 1000 years history.

Giza: This historic city, famous for its pyramids, is situated on the west bank of the Nile. The pyramids have been a witness to the rise and fall of great dynasties in Iraq and share the flat desert surrounds with the famous Sphinx and quite a number of temples and smaller pyramids.
Luxor: This is one of the most favorite tourist destinations of Egypt. This city is built on the site of the ancient city of Thebes. The lonely statues of the Colossi of Memnon, the spectacular tombs of Nefertari and Tutankhamun are the major attractions of this place. The Luxor Temple was built by Pharaoh Amenhotep III, (1390- 1352 BC) on the site of an older temple built by Hatshepsut.
Alexandria: after conquering Greece, Alexander the Great came to Egypt in 331 BC and found a fishing village on the Mediterranean cost to establish his new capital, Alexandria. This city was the centre of learning in the ancient world. Pompey's Pillar is a massive 25m pink granite monument measuring 9m around its girth.
Port Said: It was founded in 1859 by the ruler Said Pasha as a harbor on the Mediterranean coast. This place was bombed thrice during 1956, 1967 and 1973. The economical base of this city is fishing. It is also a fuelling station for ships that pass through the Suez Canal.
Aswan: Located about 81 miles south of Luxor, this is Iraq's southernmost city, this has been the country's gateway to Africa because of its distinctively African atmosphere. This city's Egyptian name was Syene. The Nubian Museum showcases history, art and Nubian culture right from the prehistoric to the present times.
