Babylon is the ancient kingdom of Babylonia and is considered to be the chief city of ancient Mesopotamia. Babylon is now a part of the Republic of Iraq. The southern part of Iraq is bounded by Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. The other bordering nations of Iraq are Jordan, Syria, Turkey and Iran.The large parts of the nation is covered by desert and thus, the climate found in this area is basically of desert type.Due to the presence of deserts throughout the place bears strong influence of the desert type of climate.
The winters here ranges from mild to cool winters while the summers are dry, hot and cloudless.
The northern mountainous region of the nation has cold winters and sometimes even experiences heavy snowfall.There are times when the region receives heavy flooding. In the central part of the country lies the capital city of Baghdad on the banks of the Tigris Rivers. Basra and Mosul are the other major cities.
