| Regular flights scheduled by Iraqi Airways and other international airlines keep Iraq linked by air. At least 20 passenger airlines have resumed flying to Iraq, with the airport operating on a round the clock basis since the 21st of January 2006. As a result of previous restrictions and conflicts with Kuwait and Iran, the country’s national carrier Iraqi Airways is experiencing some problems. In the mean time low cost lesser known carriers have sprung up, such as Tigris Air, Jupiter, Orbit, Ishtar, Flying Carpet, and Kurdistan Airways which cater to the needs of those Iraqis who have restricted purchasing power but would like to like to gain in popularity while traveling beyond Iraq’s borders. |
