Images of Inca City, Peru |
|
The historic Inca city in Peru has stirred the imagination of thousands down the years including Pablo Neruda. If one is to go by history, the pages of our history books say that this historically significant Inca City had the shape of a Puma or Mountain Lion (with Felis color) due to this the name of Calle Pumakurko has been maintained and this name is representative of "Puma's backbone". As tradition goes, Cusco had the shape of a crouching puma. The "Puma's Tail" is in the junction of the Saphi ("Root") river and the Tullumayu ("Bone River" or "Thin River"). These important historical junctions are located in front of the Savoy Hotel.

The buildings of the suburbs had walls made of adobe (sun-dried brick) or "parka". The roofs of these buildings were made of straw. In order to maintain the room temperature during the cold winter months, the houses of Inca city did not have too many doors or windows.
