The Aztecs revered several gods and goddesses, and they believed that each of them controlled one or the other aspect of the human beings and nature at large. Since agriculture was an important and integral part of their lives, so they had many gods who they believed would control the forces of nature and help them prosper in their agricultural endeavors. Since some of the Aztec gods were malicious and some benevolent, the people believed that they should be appeased and thanked at all costs in order to avoid their wrath. Aztecs had the barbarous ritual of human sacrifices as they thought inflicting pain on body is the best means to ask for forgiveness. Lets find out more on the gods in details.

Chalchiuhtlicue
